Background & Intention Behind the Work
While painting this piece, I had the strange sensation of being watched—not by something external, but from deep within.
With every brushstroke, it felt as if a quiet voice was whispering, “It’s okay.”
There was a sense of calm, as if I were being gently held.
When the painting was complete, I realized that what had appeared was not an eye that looks outward—
but an eye that watches over what’s within.
Though I was painting the form of a dragon,
what truly stayed with me was a feeling:
that each of us carries a “place to return to” inside ourselves.
When we feel lost or wounded,
instead of searching for answers from the outside,
we can simply turn inward—and ask the dragon within.
